Students undergoing informal education

Informal education is mainly knowledge gained outside a school-setting. Education is what makes a person stand in the society and with informal education it becomes even easier as it helps to learn as one life. It could also be called as learning through day-to-day, personal experiences, observing the surrounding and learning with the help of other modes of information like museums, libraries, television, newspaper, conversations, zoo’s, internet etc.

The trend of informal learning is prevalent since the first man walked on earth. The mode of trial and error is what is to be followed in this type of learning. This mode of learning exists in tribal’s where-in, there is no much of a set up of a school and the children learn by what their elders do, their style of living the day-to-day life.

The sole motive of informal education is to make education a fun and interesting process without leaving the learning aspect attached to it. The avenue for informal educators is open and is considered a challenging job, as it does not allow the teachers to stick to a pattern provided but to explore their own abilities and ways in which they can pass on, share and educate their pupils. Their prime focus is to build on informative conversations and experiences, communication and relationship with the pupils promoting learning and help them be happy and fulfilled at the same time. This kind of education system is rapidly being accepted.

Today when the world is breaking down and is become a place where individuality is made a new trend of living, informal education gives way to promoting relationship, conversations and interaction between people in order to create a great learning experience. The formal education offers no scope for the students but when it comes to informal education, the learners have a wider scope as they can absorb all that is available in their immediate surrounding. They could go on to take up first hand experiences to learn and also take help from the experienced elders or tutors available.

Education must have a lot of scope, but today the education system is confined to a pattern which is rarely changed. Whereas, when it comes to informal education it has tried to give a challenge and revived the learning system. It has made learning interesting, informative and there is more to explore every time for the pupil and the teacher both. This type of learn could also be when a pupil is out of school-setting and learns things that help him in live his further life. It is also referred to as learning process which is carried on throughout one’s life.

Informal education is been recognized and accepted with great enthusiasm widely, encouraging this type of learning will allow the students to test their abilities, get them closer to nature and help them think out-of-the-box. With the formal education system of today which hardly coincides with socio-economic change, informal education gives a wider scope and adaptability.

Great ideas and a very valuable hub. Learning can be incorporated into every aspect of daily life, whether it's measuring ingredients for a batch of cookies or discussing water displacement in the tub.

Oh, and the more singing that goes along with it all, the better!
